General information about the association
The VGN is an association of (prospective-) Orthopaedic practitioners and affiliates.
Our association was born on June 1st 1990 after a merger between the Dutch Association of Plaster Masters (NVG), founded in 1964 and the Dutch Association for Plaster Room Staff (NFHP), founded in 1979 .
The VGN has a good name with institutions within the healthcare, businesses and government agencies, both in the Netherlands and abroad. She was in 1990 a member of the (now defunct) International Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (ISOT), an umbrella global professional association. Currently she works as a union affiliated with NU'91.
In 2004, the VGN ensured that the proffesional profile and the professional code for Orthopaedic practitioners was rewritten and formally accepted.
The Professional profile is currently being rewritten to meet the demands and desires of the moment in which the sustainability of our profession is assured.
The VGN offers the members a number of objectives :
- It promotes contacts between members,
- It contributes to several qualifications of its members, both practical and theoretical areas,
- It represents the interests of its members and the profession Plaster Master/Orthopedic practitioner in the broadest sense of the word.
To achieve those goals it organizes general annual meetings mostly associated with an afternoon progamme with topics brought on a scientific sound of manner and / or topics of practial professional interests. A few things in cooperation with the Dutch orthopedic surgeons (NOV ) , the Dutch Society for Traumatology these objectives ( NA ) and other national and international organizations in this field .
Besides of the statutory general annual meeting (spring) and the related study, the VGN organizes and/or participates in symposia, seminars and conferences. The association also activates regional quality meetings and promotes active participation in workshops of suppliers. The association is also responsible for the publication of a professional journal and is involved in the National Education as Orthopaedic practitioner (LOG), using the quality committee and steering committee .
